The Joy Is In The Journey

A lot of us spend a good amount of our time in a hurry. From the time we wake up until the time we go to bed, we’re in a hurry to get from one place to another or one activity to another, or one goal to another. Hurry, hurry, hurry!

We feel we need to get to that next thing, that next destination, that next goal so that we can say “We’ve arrived!”. And we feel that our life will be complete and happy and full of joy – once we just GET THERE. But along the way we feel stress and overwhelm. We feel lost. We burn out. We lose our joy.

You know what’s really interesting to think about? We spend MOST of our time on the journey, not in the destination. Because the reality is that once you arrive at a place or an activity or a goal, you’re immediately on the journey to the next thing, the next destination. So wouldn’t it make much more sense to make sure you are enjoying the ride? We’ve got just one life to live and if we can’t get joy out of the journey, then what’s the point?

Today, I want you to really be intentional about enjoying the journey. Take a moment to focus on what you have. To be grateful for where you are. Celebrate every achievement in your life, no matter how small. Focus on loving the process even more than the reward. Find ways to do the things your passionate about. It’s the journey where we find the joy.

Doesn’t that feel great?!
