Your Life Is Out Of Control. Or Is It?

There are some days when it feels like life is just totally out of control. You spilled your coffee all over your favorite book. You got cut off in traffic. The news is full of strife and pain and suffering. You woke up and your list of responsibilities is longer than the day. Your computer shut down FOR NO REASON! It can feel enormously overwhelming when your life seems out of control. And it can be hard on every aspect of your life.

So, it’s important to focus on what you CAN control – especially on those days when you just want to throw your hands in the air or pull your hair out. To remember that while there are things in life that you can’t control there are ample things in your life that you CAN control.

You always have control over your thoughts and perspective. You have control over your attitude in any given situation. Your beliefs, your moral code, your values and principles. You have control over who your friends are. You can control what books you read and what shows you watch. What you eat, how you exercise, the kind of self-care you give. You can control how you treat others, how kind you are, the way that you speak and interact with everyone in your life.

There is so much in your life that you can control. So, my encouragement for you today is to find the things you can control in your life and be intentional with them. Be honest with yourself, be kind to yourself, say “thank you” more often and “I love you” even more. Ask for help when you need it. Practice gratitude every day. And choose each day to appreciate everything that you have. In doing so, you regain control over your life. And that makes life a whole lot sweeter.
