Stop Comparing Your Life

encouragement Apr 04, 2022

If any of you have heard me speak, train or coach before, chances are pretty good that you may have heard me say how so often we see the best in other people and the worst in ourselves and wonder why we don’t measure up. Can you relate to that? I mean, I want you to really sit and reflect on that for a minute. Are you grading your life and what you deem success based on the success of other people?

And if you are, I want you to stop. This might be the most forceful thing you ever hear from me. I want you to stop doing that. Because if you are always looking at the best in other people and the worst in yourself, you will never measure up. Because you can’t. The scale will never balance. And worse, you’ll never reach the potential that you have inside of you. Because it’s too easy to get derailed from your dreams, your purpose, your calling – whatever you want to call it, when you’re climbing an unscalable mountain.

So, for today I want you to stop comparing your life and yourself to anyone else. I want you to see your own strengths for what they truly are - strengths. I want you to totally embrace your inner quirkiness. I want you to recognize your gifts and what you have to offer this world. And if you haven’t done so in a while, I want you to love yourself.

Focus today on YOU and how you can become a better YOU than you were yesterday. Not because you’re comparing yourself to the best in someone else. But simply because you are reaching to become the best version of you.
