It's Never Too Late

Today’s daily dose is possibly geared more towards those that have a little bit of seasoning under their belt! That’s another word for older, just in case you didn’t catch it. But the truth is that you can be at any age and sometimes get the feeling that your best years are already done. That you’ve missed the boat of opportunity. Or maybe you’re just feeling a little lost and wondering what you’re supposed to DO in your life. And worried that there’s not enough time.

Here is some research that may bring you some encouragement!

The overall average age of a Nobel prize winner is between 50 and 80 depending on the category. I think most of us would look to a Nobel prize winner as someone who has achieved success. Who of you have heard of Vera Wang? Vera Wang didn’t enter the fashion industry until she was 40 years old. Julia Child was a famous chef, author and TV personality. Julia published her first cookbook when she was 50. Ray Kroc founded McDonald’s when he was 52. Harland Sanders – better known as Colonel Sanders franchised Kentrucky Fried Chicken when he was 62. Laura Ingalls Wilder published the first book in the “Little House” series when she was 65. Anna Mary Roberson Moses, better known as Grandma Moses, BEGAN her prolific painting career when she was 78. Harry Bernstein gained fame after penning “The Invisible Wall: A Love Story That Broke Barriers” at the age of 96. What’s even more inspiring is that he spent most of his life writing in obscurity.

There are many more stories of people who gained success or found happiness or just discovered “their calling”. And not only when they were older. There are many stories of those that overcame adversity and sometimes extreme adversity before finding their place.

So, my encouragement for you today is to remember that it’s never too late. If you have a dream, or a calling or like me, you just finally decided to listen to that burning voice that lives inside of you – you CAN live the life that you are destined to live. It’s never too late. You just have to believe and then DO.
