Do The Things You’re Scared Of

Real progress happens when you do the things you’re scared of. Fear is one of the biggest obstacles to living your best life. When you’re afraid, you hold back from trying new things, having unique experiences, taking advantage of opportunities. It even holds you back from leaving your comfort zone in any significant way. Fear will limit so much in your life, if you let it. It not only prevents growth and progress but it can cause you to live a life of regret and it wastes your energy.

The truth is that fear can’t be completely eliminated from your life. But that doesn’t mean that fear has to win. Real progress can only happen when you do the things you’re afraid of. You absolutely can learn to manage your fears. Just remember that you’re more powerful than the thing that scares you.

One thing you can do to manage your fears is to name them and notice how you feel. And it’s okay to own your fear. Trying to ignore your fear will only make it worse. And once you have named it and owned it, then take some time to just breathe. Deep and mindful breathing actually deactivates your bodies stress response. Then create a plan of action that allows you to keep moving forward.

When you see that you’re okay, that gives you the strength to take even more steps. Taking charge of your live requires you to also take charge of your fears. It's not an easy thing to do, but it is possible. It's also worth it.
